Our Role in the College

To provide formal one-on-one mentoring to foster a culture of development and learning for staff in the College of Education and Human Development. This program aims to promote a shared responsibility amongst the participants, mentor and mentee.

Mentoring Program Overview

The first phase of the CEHD Staff CoP MAPS program started on September 1, 2021, and has continued each year since. The 2025–2026 cohort is scheduled to begin September 29, 2025.

The CEHD Staff CoP MAPS program connects professional staff with mentors for career-focused conversations, professional growth, and support.

Eligibility

Both mentees and mentors must be professional staff of the College of Education and Human Development.

Enrollment Period

Interest forms will be accepted from September 15, 2025 – August 31, 2026.

How the Program Works

Matching Process
  • Matching mentees with mentors is based on the needs of the mentee and the potential areas of expertise of the mentor.
  • Mentees receive a list of mentor suggestions and make the initial contact with their potential mentor.

Additional support is provided by the CEHD MAPS Program Administration Team as needed for both mentors and mentees.

Program Expectations
  • Meet regularly with your mentor or mentee, with once per month at minimum.
  • Maintain frequent communication.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals, along with a timeline that can be adjusted as needed.
Program Support

The CEHD MAPS Program provides support to both mentors and mentees by:

  • Facilitating the mentor/mentee matching process.
  • Providing self-directed trainings for cultivating the mentoring relationship.
  • Providing resources to help structure the mentoring relationship.
  • Providing mentor resources for meetings such as lunch, coffee, etc.
  • Offering program support as needed.
