SEHD Staff CoP MAPS

Our Purpose

To provide formal one-on-one mentoring to foster a culture of development and learning for staff in the School of Education and Human Development. This program aims to promote a shared responsibility amongst the participants, mentor and mentee.

Eligibility


Both mentee and mentor must meet the following requirement:

  • Professional staff of the School of Education and Human Development
 

About our Program


The first phase of the SEHD Staff CoP MAPS program started on September 1, 2021 and ended on April 30th, 2022. The second phase of the SEHD Staff CoP MAPS program is scheduled to start June 1, 2023.

We invite former mentees to serve as mentors for the second phase of the program. Former mentors, we also invite you to continue serving as mentors.

 

Matching Process

  • Matching mentees with mentors will be determined based on the needs of the mentee and the potential areas of expertise of the mentor.
  • Mentees will be sent a list of mentor suggestions and will make the initial contact with their potential mentor.

Additional support will be provided by the SEHD MAPS Program Administration Team as needed for both mentors and mentees.

Mentees will share their professional skills, career, and network goals, along with their individual development plans to direct the conversations and learning.

Program Components


  • Meet regularly with mentor/mentee as agreed upon. Once a month at minimum.
  • Maintain frequent communication.
  • Establish both short- and long-term goals, as well as a timeline to tweak as needed.

Program Support


The SEHD MAPS Program can provide the following support to both mentors and mentees:

  • Facilitate the mentor/mentee matching process.
  • Provide self-directed trainings for cultivating your mentoring relationship.
  • Provide resources to help you structure your mentoring relationship.
  • Provide mentors resources for taking mentees to lunch, coffee, etc.
  • Program support as needed.
